Dear Parents and Carers
And so, our final full week draws to a close and whilst it has been extremely cold the blue skies and sunshine have created some stunning images. Our infant children performed their Nativity ‘Hosanna Rock’ on Wednesday and Thursday and we just about managed to fit everybody into the school hall. Our Junior Choir treated our infant parents to a selection of their Carols which will take place in full on Tuesday 20th December at 5.00pm in St Gregory’s Church. Children may wear their Christmas Jumpers over their School Uniform for this final Advent Celebration. Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend the children’s practice yesterday. Fr Grant was in attendance and he thought the children’s singing was amazing, which it was. I do hope that you are able to enjoy this one hour on Tuesday after school.
Our school choir went to St James’ Church yesterday evening where they sang an extended selection from their repertoire. Today we shall be singing for the residents at Park Haven and hope that our children’s beautiful singing and smiling faces raise the spirits of the residents. Our Year 3, 4 & 5 members of our School Choir will be singing at Maghull Town Hall to welcome people in our community who are using it as a Warm Hub. Thanks to Mr Mulrooney for helping to organize this.
Many thanks to those of you who took part in the infant Nativity Raffles we have collected nearly £400 which will go towards providing resources for our children.
As with all schools we have a significant number of children who are unable to attend school due to colds, coughs or other winter illnesses. Please continue to be vigilant and refer to the health guidance that has been sent to you.
Next week sees our talent show Bosco’s Got Talent. I am looking forward to the children entertaining their friends and this will give our staff an opportunity to ready their class rooms for the start of the New Year.
I have been asked to inform you that there will be a funeral at St James’ Church on Monday 19th December at 12.45pm. The yellow gates will be closed but should be opened in time for the end of the school day. I would like to thank you for respecting this arrangement which clearly increases the safety of our children at drop off and pick up times.
A reminder that the Christmas Discos are as follows
Monday 19th December Infant 4.30-5.30 Juniors 6.00-7.30
There will be a final opportunity to purchase tickets for our World Cup Football Kit Raffle at the discos and the draw will take place at our final assembly of the year on Wednesday 21st December. Please return any St John Bosco Award Cups on Monday.
School will break at 2.00pm prompt and the children will return on Thursday 5th January 2023 at 8.45am.
I hope you have a peaceful weekend and are looking forward to a positive change in the weather next week.
Yours sincerely
Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
