Scarlet Fever5 December 2022 (by stjohnb) |
Dear Parents and Carers
As you are aware there have been some deeply concerning reports in the news papers regarding Strep A bacterial disease. I certainly do not want to alarm anyone but I am asking that you are particularly vigilant at the current time.
Most symptoms are mild, a sore throat or a skin infection (a rash that feels like sandpaper). These can easily be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated it may develop into something more serious.
- Is scarlet fever, which mostly affects young children and requires antibiotics
You know your children and if they have a high temperature, swollen glands, sore throat, rash or muscle aches, you are advised to seek medical help.
I am sure you are well aware of this information but wanted you to be assured that we too shall be extra vigilant in school.
Yours sincerely
Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
