Friday update 14.10.2214 October 2022 (by stjohnb) |
Dear Parents and Carers
Our Year 4 Multi Skills Team enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Chesterfield High School last Friday afternoon. 14 Local Schools took part and we were thrilled that our boys and girls came second. Both Mr Parry and I were delighted with their effort and the way that they supported each other.
On Monday evening we welcomed the Year 6 footballers from Green Park School to join our after-school club training session. We arranged for two friendly matches to take place and again a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all. I was delighted with the way that the children mixed and played together especially as a number of our children were asked to play for a Green Park team. Both Mr Parry and I felt that this epitomised our attitude towards inclusive sport although clearly schools will naturally want to play their strongest team during competitive events.
It is unfortunate that the first Maghull Cross Country Race is taking place on Monday. It usually takes place on a Wednesday; however, this has not happened on this occasion. It does clash with our main parents evening for most classes but I will be supporting any children in Year 4, 5 & 6 that are able to run. Mr Parry and I will be able to accommodate 15 children in the school minibus, the children should be picked up at closing time at 2.00pm and returned to school at 3.40pm. Any parents who can take their children to Maricourt High School, it would be much appreciated. The races do not take very long and I hope you will be able to fit this in as well as your meeting with your children’s teachers.
School will close on Monday at 2.00pm for all children except those at Stjbkidzone and those children having a dance lesson with Mrs Boynton. There will be no Year 5 and 6 Boys Football Club.
I shall open the Round Meade Gate at 1.50pm and parents may use this gate and the gate by Year 6 to access their child’s classroom. Please try to keep to your times as this will prevent parents from having to wait outside.
Our school book fair which will be run by our Head and Deputy Head Boys and Girls will now take place in the school hall on Tuesday after school in the school hall, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control this is the only day that we will be able to run the book fair. Please come into the school hall straight after school if you would like to treat your child.
Can I remind Year 5 & 6 children that we have organized an After School Sword Fencing Club which the children have loved in previous years. This has now been open to children in Year 4. Please return the form next week and if your child has misplaced or lost it simply ask for a replacement. The dates are Friday 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th November as well as 2nd December.
As a school who looks after its buildings and surroundings we were delighted to be awarded third place out of 80 schools in Sefton in the Green School Eco Awards for 2021-22. As we continue to look for places to improve these important areas of our school curriculum it is most encouraging to see that our children’s efforts are acknowledged in such a way.
Our Reception children and their Year 6 Chummies have been practicing for their Welcome Assembly which will take place at 2.00pm in the school hall, entrance will be through the Family Room and we hope that the children are made to feel a real part of our school family as they receive their official welcome to our wonderful school.
Our Full Governing Board met yesterday evening and it was great to all meet up and particularly to be able to see Fr Grant. He would like to assure Year 4 parents that First Holy Communion arrangements are on his radar and we shall communicate times and dates as soon as they have been finalized. The Governing Board were delighted in the way the school continues to function in these challenging times and would like to thank you for your continued support and wish for an enjoyable weekend.
Yours sincerely
Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
