Friday Update 26.11.21
Dear Parents and Carers
Following a full governor’s meeting last Thursday, I am pleased to inform you that we are collectively pleased with the way that we have been able to continue school life for all our children in as normal a way as possible. There are clearly pockets of infection around and I again would like to thank you on behalf of the governing board for the sensible manner in which you have conducted yourself should you have any concerns regarding the covid virus. We have again enjoyed a very busy week in which there has been so much going on for our children with after school clubs and preparation for our Christmas Celebrations. It is most uplifting to once again here the sound of children singing in and around school.
Although we have a couple of staff who are currently unwell and we wish them a speedy recovery we are nevertheless relatively fortunate and have been able to secure excellent supply staff who are working alongside our teachers and support staff to ensure that the children continue to receive the very best provision.
Well done to our depleted boys football team who equipped themselves extremely well when I took them to the Maghull Primary School Tournament held at Active Soccer after school on Wednesday. I was delighted with their effort and the way that they supported each other and indeed the support from our parents who attended. Although we did not proceed to the semi-finals the boys should be proud as they were playing against particularly strong opposition. Mr Parry joined me after his after-school club and as we were watching the tournament we commented to each other that there were certain children and parents who to be quite frank behaved in an appalling way. This involved intimidating other child as well as the referees who were simply trying to help the children have an enjoyable event. One referee left. It sickens me to see how some individuals behave and it was clear that they had no concept of participation and sportsmanship with the only aim for them being to win at any cost. Nevertheless, the St John Bosco contingent continued in a way that people have come to expect from us and for that I remain proud of our school family.
As you know we have prepared for short videos that will help to show new parents all the wonderful things that make our school so special. In addition, I have arranged an open morning tomorrow at 10.30am I am pleased that both Miss Wood and Miss Cook will be with me as well as some of our Year 6 children. We are looking forward to welcoming 16 families. Please say a little prayer that the weather is kind. Perhaps that should be a very big prayer, looking at the weather forecast.
Parent have been informed that we are able to present an Infant Nativity on three afternoons in the school hall and invited parents from individual infant classes to maximise safety controls.
I am pleased that I am now able to celebrate our Advent Wreath Assemblies with the children, these will take place each week throughout Advent as the candles build the light that will culminate in our final assembly on Tuesday 21st December when the children will light all five candles to signify the Coming of Jesus.
