Friday Update 25.06.21

25 June 2021 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

A very different week from last week in terms of weather and sadly the number of children who are not in school.  Many hundreds of children in Sefton Primary Schools are having to be sent home in order for schools to comply with the current guidelines of self-isolation.  It is becoming clear that there are now quite new and different symptoms which unfortunately mimic colds and hay fever as well as headaches and stomach upsets that our children get from time to time.  If you have any concerns please keep your child at home and if they develop any of these symptoms alongside the more traditional ones that are well publicised please keep your child at home, test them and inform the office if it is a positive result.  As you can imagine school is very quiet, however the teachers who are providing remote learning will ensure that your children’s needs are met as well as is possible and we look forward to them returning on the following dates

Year 2 return Tuesday 29th June

Year 4 & Year 6 return on Friday 2nd July

Year 3 return Monday 5th July

I would like to finish this brief update with something to celebrate.  On Monday our Year 6 cross country team took part in the Maghull and District Cross Country Event at Maricourt High School.   The event took place outdoors and the children were supervised by me and Mrs Clark secure environment.   The boys performed very well as a team and we were delighted when we found out that our girls’ team won the competition.  Well done to all the children.  On Wednesday Mr Mainwaring, Mr Parry and I took our Year 5 children to Aintree Racecourse were they had a fantastic day learning about the history of the event as well as the equipment that the jockeys use each child enjoyed a pony riding and grooming session and the day finished with the children running the final furlong to the finishing line where they gathered round the grave of the World Famous Red Rum.  I understand that the weather is due to change for the better and hope that it remains so for our children to enjoy until the end of term on 16th July at 3.15pm.  Please remember Fr Grant’s Silver Jubilee Celebration Mass will take place on Sunday 4th July at 1.00pm in the prayer garden in family bubbles.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
